Getting Around in MTP Manager

MTP Manager is the main user interface to the Appthority MTP environment.

MTP Manager has a Dashboard that gives you quick summaries of mobile threat detection status for the Organization. The tab-style interface gives you access to other functionality for setting up and configuring the system, displaying the installed apps and devices that are in use, and administering users. In addition MTP Manager displays icons on the top right to access general functionality.

Dashboard for Quick Status

Once the system is set up and configured, the Dashboard is your primary interface to monitoring for threat detection. Use it to quickly see the status of mobile threat detection. At the top, you can see details about your most recent data sync, as well as a count of all devices and apps in the Organization. You can drill down from each dashlet into details.

The Active High-Risk Threats dashlet displays App and Device Policies with a Risk Score of 8 or higher that are currently violated. Click to drill down to the policy, or to a list of apps or devices in violation. See Active High-Risk Threats Dashlet.

The Threat Impact dashlet shows the number of apps violating active TIs, regardless of policies, and the number of devices violating policies. See Threat Impact Dashlet.

The MTT Updates dashlet shows any updates from the MTT researchers, including new or changed Threat Indicators or MTT-Managed Policies. This provides information on new threats you may want to address, as well as the number of apps and devices affected by the change. See MTT Updates Dashlet.

The MTP Mobile App dashlet provides a quick look at the status of devices with MTP Mobile App installed in your organization, and the distribution by platform. See MTP Mobile App Dashlet.

The Apps in Your Organization dashlet displays the status of the apps in your Organization, such as how many are current in the app stores versus how many are not the latest version of the app (stale). See Apps in Your Organization Dashlet.

Devices Tab for Managing Devices and Device Groups

The Devices tab provides information about devices that are registered with a connected EMM or have the MTP Mobile App. As Appthority MTP detects security threats from installed apps or affected devices, it updates the data display. Use advanced filtering and grouping to quickly locate a subset of devices. Drill down to the detail page for a device to see specific information.

On this tab, you can create device groups, filter devices, drill down to specific devices for details, and link to the Compliance > Device Policies tab to create, view, or edit policies.

When you click on a device ID in the Devices tab, the Device ID tab opens with additional details about the individual device.

The Device ID tab has panels, using buttons on the left, that go into greater detail about the apps on the device. In addition the CVEs link opens a report of any Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) detected on the device. Android devices also have a link to their current security patch.

See About the Devices Tab and Manage Devices.

Apps Tab for Managing Apps and Black/Whitelists

Use the Apps tab to manage and gain insight into the apps installed on devices in the Organization. As apps are detected on devices or are manually added, MTP Manager dynamically analyzes their risk and adds to the app inventory list, with the highest-risk apps at the top of the list.

On the Apps tab you can add apps manually for app analysis, filter apps, manage the blacklist and whitelist, see any sideloaded apps, drill down to specific apps or devices for details, and link to the Compliance > App Policies tab to create, view, or edit custom policies.

See About the Apps Tab and Manage Apps.

Compliance Tab for Defining Detection and Remediation Policies

Use the Compliance tab to create and manage Threat Indicators, App and Device Policies, and Appthority Remediation Policies.

Device Policies

Use the Compliance > Device Policies tab to create Device Policies for devices that have the MTP Mobile App.

See About the Custom Device Policies Tab and Create a Custom Device Policy.

App Policies

Use the Compliance > App Policies tab to set compliance criteria for apps. You can also activate or deactivate custom policies, or change the Policy Risk Score by changing one or more of its TI Risk Level numbers.

See About the App Policies Tab and Create a Custom App Policy.

Remediation Policies

Use the Compliance > Remediation Policies tab to set actions for compliance policy violations, and to specify when to escalate to an EMM for enforcement. This applies to devices that have the MTP Mobile App.

See About the Remediation Policies Tab and Create a Custom Remediation Policy and Actions.

Threat Indicators

Use the Compliance > Threat Indicators tab to see details for all Threat Indicators and enable the ones you want to use in policies. You can change the default Risk Level for non-malicious Threat Indicators.

See About the Threat Indicators Tab and Configure Threat Indicators.

Admin Tab for Managing Integrations, MTP Mobile App, and Users

The Org Administrator has access to the Admin tabs to set up options for the Organization's EMM integration, manage MTP Mobile App, and manage users.

Organization

Use the Admin > Organization tab for Organization-level configurations, such as integration with your EMM and enabling the MTP Mobile App.
